Capture the Beauty of Bodega Head!

February 11, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

For the month of February, the North Coast Nature Journal Club will be heading out to Bodega Head in Sonoma County!

I am really excited about the opportunities that this spot will provide. We will focus on techniques for drawing and painting quick landscapes and how to crop and choose a good composition.  There are many beautiful coves, rock formations, and charismatic trees to draw. While we are working on these, there will probably be cool bird sightings mixed in, and maybe even whales. last time I was out there I saw a burrowing owl!

We won’t cover much distance and we will probably have long stationary moments close to the parking lot. The ground is uneven however, and could be slippery in places.  The weather is unpredictable and can get cool and windy but the weather forecast looks like it could be quite nice and warm. A foldable lightweight stool and binoculars will be very handy on this trip, as will a sun hat and other sun protection. Bring plenty of water and we will have potluck lunch near the parking lot.

Meet at the Bodega head parking lot that is furthest in on westshore road. You will see people standing around with sketchbooks and binoculars.Bodega Head Directions
