11th of May 2026: Maybe going live on Instagram this morning ruined it, ruined my one hour a day commitment to emulating Leonardo’s journaling practice. I wonder if Leonardo could have achieved what he did if he had social media? Tomorrow I might not go live…

The most important thing is that I sat down and drew and wrote and observed and wondered for one whole hour. The daily practice on paper really makes a difference. Leonardo Da Vinci filled approximately one thousand pages a year. That is almost three pages a day on average. That is definitely more than one hour each day.

But I need to start with a good balance between doable and powerful. A common problem with learning today is that people think they can learn something with one hour a week. The brain needs more frequency than that. The frequency is a huge part of learning. That is why I quit tango dancing (but that is a story for another post).

One of the reasons I am doing 7 days of Leonardo Journaling is that I like to take my own medicine. What do I mean? Well, I just created a a new class on Skillshare called “Journal Like a Genius: 7 Day Leonardo Da Vinci Journaling Challenge.” Yes, I know that is a mouthful, but that is because this is a unique class. Because for some reason people have not put that much time into trying to emulate Leonardo’s journaling. They have been too busy adulating his most famous paintings. Therefore they call him a genius instead of trying to learn from him.
