SUMMARY:Explore the Laguna de Santa Rosa Trail
DESCRIPTION:Join the North Coast Nature Journaling meet up this month at the Laguna de Santa Rosa Trail in Sebastopol. We will keep our eyes open for wonderful bird encounters while practicing drawing the beautiful landscape scenes this location provides. Last time I was there I saw 5 species of raptors including a family of Great Horned Owls. We will explore whatever other curiosities nature has in store. Bring sketching and watercolor supplies\, binoculars\, and a potluck lunch to share. A hat\, sun gear\, foldable chair or stool might also be useful. Be prepared to enjoy nature and learn with like minded people. The trail is very flat and even. Hiking will be very mild on this trip. We will meet at 10am at the Highway 12 entrance just East of Sebastopol. Look for people standing around with sketchbooks in the parking lot. Potluck lunch around 12. \n  \nWe meet every month at new spots! Third Saturday of the month. \n$20 recommended donation \nParking is free. A hat\, sun gear\, foldable chair or stool might also be useful. Be prepared to enjoy nature and learn with like minded people. \nWe will meet at 10am at the food stand at the Violetti Road entrance. Look for people standing around with sketchbooks. Potluck lunch around 12. \n$20 recommended donation for the club. \nNote: this is a regional park and they charge for parking in the lot. If you choose you can park outside the gate on Violetti road and walk in.

DESCRIPTION:I’m excited to announce the formation of the North Coast Nature Journal club! We will meet every third Sunday of the month from 10-2 at a different park or beach in Sonoma and Marin County. We will explore and journal landscapes\, plants\, animals\, and tracks. There will be technique demonstrations\, a potluck lunch\, and opportunity to share ideas and methods. \nOur very first meeting will be at the entrance to Bodega Dunes Campground off HWY 1. $20 recommended donation. 10am until 2pm. Bring sketching supplies\, a backpack\, potluck item and portable plate and utensils. Wear layers and be prepared for mild hiking in the outdoors.

We will approach tracking in a holistic sense and learn to integrate it into our quiver of naturalist skills. \nAbbot’s Lagoon in Point Reyes National Seashore is a world class location for tracking and bird watching where we are sure to find many goodies to fill our journals. Badgers\, otters\, bobcat\, owls\, ravens\, falcons\, and foxes are a few of the denizens whose tracks and sign we might see. \n
