How to Nature Journal a Tree in Eleven Easy Steps
- First of all don’t get overwhelmed.
- Next, get yourself comfortable. I like the super comfy, durable, and convenient Travelchair by Joey Chair.
- As usual, we want to get metadata on our page as soon as possible.
- Next start with the meat and potatoes. What does that mean? To begin with just draw the tree!
- In the meantime, start a running list of your other observations in the margin.
- Don’t forget to take care of your physical needs. With this in mind, protect yourself from the sun and stay hydrated and chocolated.
- Similarly to number 6 be sure to wear mosquito protection if you are in the tropics!
- At this stage I will reflect on my progress and practice self awareness. In order to clarify this I can ask myself this question. “What is my goal with this session?”
- Next it is time to zoom out and try some other nature journaling strategies.
- Another key point to remember is to add written descriptions. In general people forget the power of words in nature journaling.
- In summary it is important to treat yourself. I recommend eating some chocolate at the end of your session 🙂
